I N S A N I T Y

Thanks to Tim Laskey for this wonderfully entertaining poem!

Sometimes people are watching me

and man they've got audacity.

When I go for a little swim,

they question my sagacity.

They see me wade into the surf.

They don't know my capacity.

That rock's a long swim from the shore.

There's time for much profanity.

It's risky out there. People drown.

So total, focused clarity.

That's not to say there are not times

I sense my own mortality.

Those times soon pass. There is no time

to waste on triviality.

There's strong currents, rocks, deep water.

But not much jocularity.

Surging waves and barracuda.

Now that requires tenacity.

Perhaps a prowling shark, or two.

Velocity - Voracity! Sometimes I'm fighting really hard

and that demands pugnacity.

At last I'm there. I touch "The Rock"

and share its solidarity.

Fierce waves are hurling me around.

That's awesome. That's reality.

Feel so alive. Be cool. Stay safe.

Let's not invite calamity.

I take the risks. I get the rush.

They think it is insanity!

Alone out there, I just don't care.

I'm idiosyncrasity .......
